Late Sunday evening, a fire of undetermined origin was discovered by Mrs. Curtis Gage who called the fire department. Strong winds pushed the fire south of County Road 930. A quick response by firefighters kept it from spreading to adjacent landowners. They were able to limit the damage to about 100 acres. We are SO GRATEFUL to all of the County Fire Departments: Cheyenne, Reydon, Strong City, Crawford, Berlin, Leedey, Sweetwater and Hammon who answered the call PLUS all the County Road Graders and Forest Service personnel who worked with their equipment, especially since they missed most of the Super Bowl Game. Some of the men even spent all night putting out hot spots, while the forest service returned Monday morning to continue monitoring the area after the winds increased. We are Blessed to live in a place where people truly care for each other and help in time of trouble. God Bless all of our firefighters.
