“As I urged you when I went into Macedonia — remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.” 1 Tim 1:3-5 Paul wasn’t messing around when he wrote the two little letters to his ‘son’ in the faith, Timothy.He had invested a lot of time and wisdom in him and now close to the end of his life he’s giving Timothy some very specific instructions as to how he should proceed in his absence. Evidently the letters must’ve fallen on good ground as Timothy was the leader of the church in Ephesus, a church that lasted nearly three hundred years.
