Part 34 I was asked last week about how to get away from the sins that continue to be a problem in one’s life. The individual asked, “I know this is wrong, but I continue to fall into the temptation and sin. What steps can I take to keep away from this sin?” When a follower of God lives in sin, it is impossible for them to go to heaven, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein” (Rom. 6:1-2)? We cannot be bound to our sin and to God at the same time (Rom. 6:12-13; Matt. 6:24). Some would argue that it is impossible to not live in sin because we are human, but God does not ask His followers to do things that they cannot do (1 Cor. 10:13). “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matt. 5:48). To be perfect or complete we must be “in Him (Christ)” (Col. 2:10). And God has given us the tools to have our sins removed and live no longer in those sin (2 Tim. 3:16-17). If we continue to live in sin after we have “received the knowledge of truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sin” (Heb. 10:26). We cannot be forgive of God if we continue to live in sin. Let us examine how to avoid living in continual sin.
