Last week I received a phone call from “Publishers Clearing House” announcing that I had won a new Mercedes and $5,000. Of course, I immediately went on alert, but instead of hanging up, I wanted to listen to the caller’s spiel. All I had to do was go the nearest Wal-Mart, purchase a $500 money order and I would receive instructions on where to send it and where to pick up the NEW car and money. I replied, PCH does not require additional money paid to win a prize, so no thank you. (CLANK) Would you believe I received an identical call that next day? That time I said, “this is obviously a scam; do not call me again.” (CLANK) Crooks must think the public is stupid.
