On Saturday, September 17, 2016, five Cheyenne High School teachers attended the Dave Burgess “Teach Like a Pirate” conference held on the campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Mrs. Nila Land, Ms. Melisa Moorman, Mrs. Dianna Butler, Mrs. Darla Pennington, and Mrs. Marci Kitchens spent the day with Dave Burgess, a history teacher and motivational speaker from California, and other area educators learning new teaching techniques. Burgess uses the word “pirate” as an acrostic reminder to guide educators as they teach.
