CHEYENNE, Oklahoma: On Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28, in recognition of the National Park Service’s 100th birthday, Washita Battlefield National Historic Site will celebrate the centennial through cultural crafts. In partnership with Southwestern Oklahoma State University, the park will host an Art in the Park workshop, exhibition, and lecture. The workshop will encompass three traditional arts, parfleche making (leatherwork), beadwork, and ledger art drawing. The workshops are free and participants will have the opportunity to learn a new skill while they ‘make and take’ an item home with them to ‘show and tell’ to their friends and family.
