Larry Ray Burns was born in Reydon, Oklahoma on March 12, 1938, to Charles Lee and Viola Mae Burns.

He passed away at home in Cheyenne, Oklahoma on June 15, 2017 at the age of 79 years.

Larry was preceded in death by both parents – Viola in 1999 and Charles in 2003.

In his younger years, Larry was a talented musician who was especially outstanding on the clarinet and saxophone.

While in high school at Cheyenne in the 50’s he and some other Roger Mills County friends formed a popular band called “The Keys”. As a senior at Classen High School in Oklahoma City, he was active in many school musicals which earned him a music scholarship to Oklahoma City University.

Larry worked professionally for several years as a musician which eventually prompted a move to California. While living in Stockton, California, he attended college there working toward a degree in business.

He was employed by Sears for many years until his retirement. In 2000, at his dad’s request, Larry moved back to Cheyenne to live with him following his mother’s passing.

His favorite pastime before he became ill was fishing and playing golf.

Larry is survived by five children: Rick of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Kerry and Lorri of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Holli and husband Tom of Seattle, Washington and Bryan and wife Tara of Harold, California. He has seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Jeannean and husband Gil of Edmond, Oklahoma and many other relatives and friends.
