David Lee Danks, 70, passed away unexpectedly July 6, 2018 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. A life celebration service will be held Monday July 9, 2018 at the American Legion Building in Reydon, Ok from 1pm-3pm for family & friends to commemorate his life and share their stories of a man who touched the hearts and lives of so many people.
David was born April 15, 1948 in Park Rapids, MN to James & Myrtle Danks. He was then raised in the Lake George/ LaPorte area where he attended school. As a young man David provided for his family working in the oil fields of Texas and Oklahoma where he raised 4 children…Dawn Marie, Douglas Clayburn, Denise Ane and Kathryn Kay. David made Park Rapids his final home in 2010 after moving between MN & OK. Upon his arrival back to MN he started attending the Assemblies of God Church where he came back to his faith. Here he was made a deacon of the church & he would always say “Who would think this ole’ hippy would one day become a deacon in a church”. David loved being in the outdoors having been the son of a logging & trapping man. Hardly a day went by that you wouldn’t find him in his shop “tinkering” on something. He had a way with people, always spreading sunshine with his bright smile and booming laugh. The twinkle in his hazel eyes always let you know that he was up to something.
He is lovingly remembered by his 3 daughters: Dawn & her fiance’ Norman of Park Rapids, MN; Denise & her husband Ryan of Cordell, OK; Kathryn & her husband Josh of Bessie, OK; brothers Larry Danks & Bruce Danks both of Park Rapids; sisters Vivian Greer, Maxine Willis, Roxanne Entwistle all of Park Rapids, MN and Jan Shell of Menagha; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents James & Myrtle; 3 sons David Jr, Douglas & John; brothers Harry, Clayton and Bob; sisters Grace & Rosemary.
