“And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.” Matt 14:26 Jesus instructed the twelve to get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side. But early on in their voyage they encountered some extremely bad weather. Weather so violent they feared for their very lives. But in the midst of the storm they saw Someone, who looked like a ghost, walking on the water; a strange phenomenon, to say the least! But, in the midst of their fear, Jesus spoke to them and said, “Be of good cheer! It is I, don’t be afraid.” Easy for Him to say!! It is at this point in the story that Peter’s response totally amazes me. He says, “Lord, if it’s You, bid me to come to You.” Now, I don’t know about you but, if it was me on that boat…. that response would NOT have been the one that I would have uttered! I can think of at least a dozen or more things I would’ve said before I got to that one!
