Part 127 It was asked this week, “What are your thoughts on the idea that God doesn’t care where you go to church as long as you go somewhere?” I remember the first time I heard this idea. When I hear someone say the phrase, I think of Steel Magnolias, Dolly Parton’s famous line, “God doesn’t care where you go as long as you go somewhere.” I have heard the idiom multiple times from my youth. While the idea is popular that God does not care where or how you worship as long as you worship Him, many that use the expression do not actually believe it. I stated to the person that asked the question, “While it may be a nice idea, God obviously does not want His followers to worship and assemble with a church that teaches false doctrine.” The individual agreed rather quickly because God clearly teaches throughout the Bible not to be given over to false teachings. Christ warned, “And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them” (Luke 21:8). Paul stated likewise to Timothy, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy;
