An excellent question was asked about a passage in James. The individual asked, “Does the promise of healing the sick in James 5:14,15 still apply today?” I have heard atheists use the passage attempting to discredit the Bible, while faith healers will use these verses as a fail safe to those who are not healed by them; they will say, “Your faith wasn’t strong enough.” James wrote, “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him” (James 5:14,15). With so many interpretations of the verses in question, preparing Christians’ expectations in prayer is necessary for their steadfastness in the faith (1 Tim. 4:13,15).
