Part 152 I had a person ask a question about baptism, one of the more debated topics of discussion between a member of the church of Christ and a member of a different religious group. The individual asked, “How can you say baptism is necessary for salvation when Paul said that it wasn’t his purpose to baptize people, but just to preach the gospel?” The person is here implying that one’s preaching of the gospel will bring faith and that is the only requirement of salvation, the faith and belief derived from hearing the preaching of the gospel. The individual references 1 Corinthians 1:17, which says, “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel:
