Part 145 An interesting question about debt was presented not long ago. The individual asked, “Does Romans 13:8 mean that a Christian can’t take out a loan or buy things through installments?” An insightful question and a question that would pertain to almost every person. How many of us have paid off an expense on time or taken a loan? Let us first read the passage. Paul wrote to the church in Rome, “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law” (Rom. 13:8). Paul discusses in the context the responsibility of a Christian as a dual citizen of the kingdom of God and of an earthly nation.
