The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hand. Psalm 138:8 (NKJV)
The word perfect, means to fulfill, accomplish, to complete. Paul said in Philippians 1:6, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. This good work started in us, when we invited Jesus in to our hearts to be Lord of our lives. Now that we are a child of God – now that we are listening to Him – He begins to work in us and through us – to fulfill His promises to us – to accomplish His purpose in us – to call us to a greater purpose – to direct and guide us to follow His ways. Because following His ways and His word brings blessing and joy to us.
