An estimated crowd of 4,000 persons witnessed Cheyenne’s observance of the Battle of the Washita November 27, 1968. Overhead skies were cloudy, and temperatures were near freezing throughout the day. Proof that people are interested in history is attested by the fact that Cheyenne’s Centennial Observance of the Battle of the Washita drew more publicity than any other event in the town’s 74-years history.
