Sometimes words are hard to find in describing certain events. Such is the case when one tries to tell the whole story of the 1997 edition of the Cheyenne Arapaho Celebration. The best and most accurate estimate puts the number of people in town at around 10,000. People came from all across the country just to be here for the week long event. In speaking to different visitors, descriptions like “great”, “Fantastic”, “the best I’ve ever attended” and “super” were just a few of the phrases used. Of course when you talk about things to do last week one of the favorite seemed to be just to visit with other people on the street. In times past the crowds often broke up after the end of the parade. This year was an exception as all the downtown area was crowded all afternoon as visitors and home folks moved from one group to another to share memories from the past and to renew friendships from years gone by.
