I have been looking through Augusta’s journals, looking for any entries she might have written of Old Settler Reunions past. In most years, she just wrote, “took paintings, went to Reunion.” In 1957, thankfully, she had more to say. I’ll start on April, 7. Augusta writes. “12:30 Mr. Shelby Metcalf and Mrs. Abbot came, took several photos of paintings and afternoon with Hellen and I setting by the fireplace.” Shelby Metcalfe was the artist who did the painting of Augusta that hung in the Pioneer Museum in Cheyenne.
