The Durham Quilting Bees had sew day on Tuesday in the Fellowship and Dining Room of the Church of Christ. There were eight ladies who enjoyed the day. Lots of sewing, piecing, cutting, quilting and some quick lessons on tips from some who have years of experience in sewing. Those enjoying the productive and fun day were Pat Collins, Nena Phillips, Linda Shaw, Janet Malson, Barbara Hawkins, Donna Manhart, Karen Harman and Janna Montgomery.

Max and Janna Montgomery have returned from a week’s cruise to Cozumel and ferry ride and visit to the Chechen Itza Mayan ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. They really enjoyed the Butterfly Conservatory in Key West. Janna won this trip on a powerball. The entire cruise ship was the winners from the fifty states. They enjoyed meeting and visiting with some of the other winners. They especially enjoyed the magnificent food and the little towel statuettes in their cabin each evening. Janna has some beautiful pictures of their trip. The DWW will have their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 6th. They will be making their plans for their annual Sweetheart Supper. The Bees will quilt for Beth Milner on Thursday, February 8th. I want to wish my favorite daughter in law, Kristi Harman, a very happy birthday.Everyone is staying home and trying to keep from getting the flu. Both churches reported very low attendance.

We send our sympathies to the family of Sue Pearson.

We need rain, rain, rain or even some snow at this point. I’m so ready for one of those dreary, foggy, drizzly cool days of slow light rain that just hangs over the country for a few days and when one can almost hear it as it’s soaking up the dry soil and the wheat ground begins to turn green. And just because it’s still winter time if you look at the calendar, or to wake up one morning with about twelve inches of pure white puffy snow that stacks up on every little thing and then melts off by evening.
